About us

Information about the club

We are Clacton Radio Control Model Club affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) which is the national body responsible for managing the hobby of remote control model flying.

We fly radio control model aircraft, gliders, helicopters and multi-rotors (drones) from our club field located in Kirby-Le-Soken near to Clacton on Sea, Essex.

We are welcoming new members. Please contact us via the contact us page for more information.

The club has a number of instructors who will help newcomers to the hobby learn to fly. The club also has its own BMFA examiner who will conduct tests for BMFA certificates.

We fly a wide variety of models powered by electric or internal combustion engines. However gas turbine jets are not allowed at the site.

The club holds meetings once a quarter throughout the year.

An IC model must have a noise certificate confirming that it has met the requirements of the D o E Noise Code for the minimisation of Noise from Model Aircraft (Noise Code) before it can be flown from the club field.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome to fly at the club, in accordance with the clubs flying rules, including compliance with the “Noise Code”,  subject to payment of the visitors’ fee and providing proof of BMFA membership both of which must be arranged before visiting the site. Please contact the club prior to your visit so the necessary arrangements can be made.
